WHAT CHAIN DOES MY TRAILER NEED?
Trailers up to 1600kg must use at least 8mm rated chain stamped every forth link with 4177-16
Trailers up to 2500kg must use at least 10mm rated chain stamped every forth link with 4177-25
Trailers up to 3500kg must use at least 13mm rated chain stamped every forth link with 4177-35
Trailers that do not exceed 2.5 tonnes ATM must have at least one safety chain
Trailers over 2.5 tonnes and not exceed 3.5 tonnes ATM must have two safety
Each chain must be sized such that the minimum breaking load exceeds the ATM
